Our hut to hut snowshoe adventure in the Dolomites is a superb way of experiencing the breath-taking scenery of the Italian Dolomites. By walking between huts you have the time to absorb everything that makes the Dolomites one of our favourite Hidden Europe destinations. From sunrises and sunsets, artefacts of the First World War and the unparalleled hospitality of the south Tyroleans.

Each day your private guide will lead you through sparkling snow fields and enchanting forests to your accommodation for that night.  Your guide will review the planned route every day and make any necessary adjustments accordingly.  The mountain lodges, or rifugios provide all meals and linens, so all you have to carry is a light backpack.

Day 1 - Arrive in Cortina d'Amprezzo

Arrive in Cortina d'Amprezzo
Arrive in the historic town of Cortina d’Amprezzo, host of the 1956 winter Olympics and a town with a thousand year history including Austrian and Italian rule.

Day 2 - After a good breakfast meet your guide

After a good breakfast meet your guide
Your UIAGM/IFMGA qualified guide will introduce you to the snowshoeing equipment and safety equipment including avalanche beacons which you will be wearing whilst in the mountains.
After a short 25 minutes transfer you will check in to your first night’s accommodation, the Vallandro Hut, drop off your day sack and hike up to the Monte Specie plateau and the summit which stands at 2307m. After an invigorating first snow shoe of between 4-5 hours and ascent of 520m you will return to the warmth of the hut for your first night.

Day 3 - Chenope Valley, Gotres Valley and Forecella Lerosa

Today starts nice and early so you can make the most of the great 6 hour hike which will take you down the Chenope valley, across the Cofieldo glen and the Gotres valley. Then you will head up Forecella Lerosa and finally to the Refugio Ra Stua, your accommodation for the night.

Day 4 - Fames Sennes Braiies Natural Park

Today you’ll make your way down to Rifugio Fodara Vedla and then on to Pederu. Then,
you’ll hike up in the Fanes valley along the Al Plan river and to the cozy mountain Rifugio Lavarella where delicious Ladin cuisine made from fresh and natural produce awaits.

Day 5 - Back to Cortina d'Amprezzo after your final day

Back to Cortina d'Amprezzo after your final day
Your final 4-5 hour day on snowshoes will see you travel up Limo lake and down the Fanes valley where a transfer will be waiting to drive you back to Cortina d’Aprezzo. You will have seen some breathtaking sites, enjoyed the absolute peace and quiet of a UNESCO World Heritage Site and sampled south Tyrolean hospitality and food which will leave you with some fantastic memories. Tonight you can roam the streets of Cortina with the satisfation that snowshoeing in the Dolomites really is the ultimate way of seeing the best of this hidden gem.

Day 6 - Time to head home
