Day 1 - Arrive Calgary after direct flight from the UK

Arrive Calgary after direct flight from the UK

Collect car for the scenic and breathtaking 2 hour drive to Banff, through the trendy town of Canmore, arriving at the Banff Cariboo Lodge & Spa

Day 2-3 - Ski Lake Louise

Ski Lake Louise

Start your adventure by heading to the Lake Louise ski area. Enjoy a mixture of high open slopes and low trails cut through forest and glades. For the serious skiers head to Paradise bowl or tackle any number of black diamond trails. For the intermediates almost have the resort is classified as intermediate so there is no shortage of runs including the Men’s and Ladies’ Downhill course. For beginners there are great packages on offer that includes a beginner pass with tuition and equipment rental. Three moving carpets at the bottom make life that much easier.

Day 4 - Ski Sunshine Mountain

Ski Sunshine Mountain

Sunshine mountain is wilder and mostly above the tree line with a great reputation for some serious powder. The day starts with a gondola ride to a mid station at the foot of Goat’s Eye Mountain from where you can reach for some serious black runs. Further on Lookout Mountain offers more serious black runs including Delirium Dive and Mount Standish offers the more relaxed skier a number of green and blue runs.

Day 5 - Ski Mount Norquay

Ski Mount Norquay

Mount Norquay opened in 1926 and has remained a favourite for locals offering ski passes by the hour rather than by the day. It also has a reputation as a training ground for Olympic and World Cup athletes and if you arrive a little late in the day night skiing is also available on Fridays and Saturdays. Most of the runs are in the trees and it boasts an impressive array of gap jumps, rails, boxes and an airbag for the aeronautical skier.

Day 6 - Multi Winter Activity Day

Multi Winter Activity Day

Banff Lake Louise has an impressive selection of other winter activities available ranging from Nordic skiing, dog sledding, ski touring, ice climbing and snow shoeing. To really experience the wilderness we recommend heading out with some of the locals who can show you the real gems that only they know.

Day 7 - Ski Kicking Horse

Ski Kicking Horse

Kicking Horse is a 2 hours drive from Lake Louise but another Canadian ski resort that is well worth adding to the collection. It features what is currently the fourth highest vertical drop just 6 feet behind Jackson Hole, another of our favourite resorts. With over 2,800 acres of skiable lift served terrain the resort is renowned for its light fluffy ‘Champagne Powder’ so a great place to learn how to ski powder in preparation of more adventurous trips.

Day 8 - Try Heli-skiing or Head to ski Fernie

Try Heli-skiing or Head to ski Fernie

Today is your choice and with a tri-resort ski pass that’s valid for Sunshine, Lake Louise or Mount Norquay you can open the curtains and make that decision on the day. Alternatively it is possible to extend this trip to include visits to both Fernie, which can boast over 10 metres of snow in one season, and Panorama, where it is possible to experience a day’s heli-skiing without signing up for a whole week. However, if you do enjoy heli-skiing then give us a call on your return and we would be delighted to run through some great options available across Canada, Italy and Austria.

Day 9 - Time to Head Home!

Time to Head Home!

Enjoy the easy drive back to Calgary contemplating what a summer holiday to Alberta might include; white water rafting, hiking, mountain biking, canoeing, climbing and a trip to the Columbia Icefields.
