Hotel Ciasa Salares
A stone’s throw from the traditional village of San Cassiano, the family run hotel Ciasa Salares is the embodiment of why the Dolomites is such an extraordinary and worthwhile place to visit. The clash of Mediterranean joie de vivre and Tirolean stoicism provides a tantalising array of culinary experiences and the largest number of Michelin star restaurants in one valley anywhere in Europe. The hospitality is refreshingly attentive and based on traditional values, something in short supply in some of Europe’s major resorts.
Built in a traditional chalet style, the Ciasa Salares has 50 bright and cosy but simply decorated bedrooms and bathrooms many with breath taking views of the Dolomites and furnished with a mixture of arolla pine, fir and larch. La Siriola, the hotel’s very own Michelin starred restaurant, serves traditional and locally sourced produce and complemented with an impressive wine list including both local and international vineyards. In fact food and drink are taken so seriously here, that each week guests are invited to the wine cellar to sample delicious products, 1800 different labels at the last count, with a special emphasis on what South Tyrol has to offer. The hotel also has its own dedicated Cheese and Chocolate room including 40 different sorts.
The hotel’s own Vives Spa, with its vast array of treatments, is particularly popular in both the summer and winter to help sooth tired but well exercised muscles. A large swimming pool offers with floor to ceiling windows and mesmerizing views helps to perfectly round off every day.
A minute’s walk from the Sciova Armentarola skim lift and cross country course the Ciasa Salares is a remarkable winter and summer destination and a great base from which to explore the far corners of this remarkable UNESCO World Heritage Site.
